Welcome to Rømø - one of Denmark's most fascinating nature areas situated almost 10 kilometres out into the sea at the rim of the roaring North Sea and the life-giving Jutland Wadden Sea. During hundreds of years people have been fascinated by Rømø. First the fishermen and the wealthy whaling shipcommodores, which still can be seen today in the many beautiful Rømø farmhouses, and later on the large number of tourists visiting the island. Owing to the causeway connecting Rømø with the mainland, our beautiful island is easily accessible - and easy to leave if you would like to try our many exciting offers on the mainland. Rømø belongs to the municipality of Skærbæk, which covers an area of about 90.000 acres and has a population of about 8.000 residents. Rømø has only 850 permanent residents, but on a nice summer day this number of course increases by several thousands. Owing to the magnificent nature and the great wilds - more than 90% of the island is pure nature - and one of Europe's widest and finest beaches, you can always find a quiet place where you can let our world famous high sky enter your body and soul.
